Well, I just strung up the L-00 I've been working on for a while now. I think she's ready for a trip to Arkansas this weekend. Specs: B/S - EIR from Allieds bargain stuff Top - One of Shane's lower grade Lutz tops Bindings - Q/S sycamore again She sounds pretty good when played with a pick but a little wimpy when fingerpicked. But, I only strung her up a couple of hours ago. Here's a pic of the front. ![]() And here's one of the back. ![]() Hopefully, I will be able to get a few more detailed pics soon after Ron's shindig this weekend. Thanks for looking! |

Looks great from here. I'd like to hear good reports from the AK crowd next week. Hope it opens up some by the weekend. Kirby |

Thanks guys! Peter, sorry bout the dark pics. I'm trying to get a better setup for taking pics. Got a nice camera now just need to set up an area for it. More pics to come in the next week or so. Terry/Kirby, I also hope it opens up soon. The Arkansas crowd might be able to play a song or two on it and give it a little push. Hesh, thanks bud! That means a lot coming from a guy that builds guitars like you do! I really like the shape as far as holding it. It's really a comfortable guitar to play. I made the neck a little fatter than I intended so it will probably come off after this weekend and get carved down a little more. My SWMBO says it makes a pretty nice girl guitar too. |

Dave, That’s a beaut of a guitar! ![]() ![]() ![]() Still trying to understand the main difference between a “dreadnought” and a “L-00" ![]() Robert |

I just noticed something. Would you say that the waist is a bit tighter on the “L-00"? |

The more I look at the L-00 shape, and everyones excellent builds of that style (even Hesh's black topped beauty!), the more I want to build one myself... And I haven't even started number 1 yet! That's a real nice guitar Dave. |

Thanks again guys! Andy, the bracing pattern is basically a standard x-brace. It is built off the MIMF plans. Scale length is 24.9". Robert, the main difference between a dred and an L-00 is the size. The L-00 has a tighter waist smaller lower bout, much smaller upper bout and the depth at the tail and head blocks is shallower. It is a really nice guitar to hold, very comfortable. Steve, I promise more pics are coming as soon as I have time. Matt, I'm bringing it, warts and all. Maybe someone there can play a little blues on it for me! ![]() |

Ok guys, I promised a few more pics. Here's the best I could do within the time alloted. ![]() Someone asked for a pic of the rosette. ![]() Here a shot of the back. ![]() Here's the top. ![]() The wedgie. ![]() ![]() The headstock. ![]() Here's a shot to show what the Q/S Sycamore binding looks like. ![]() And finally, here's a shot of the volute on the back of the neck. ![]() I'll let you know how she does after this weekend at Ron's place. Sounds like I might have a few folks willing to take her for a test drive. |

Thanks again Hesh! But she's no match for your "black beauty" L-00. I've had an idea for a black top L-00 brewing in my head for a while now, but I promise it won't be a copy of your stunning work. The sycamore is almost as light as maple but has a totally different kind of grain. Gives it a bit of a different look. I also have some curly koa binding material around here somewhere that looks great with EIR too. |

Dave that looks great! Lots of things I like about it, I especially like your headstock shape and logo. |

Thanks Anthony! I had a guy design the label, headstock logo and my business cards all at the same time so things would be consistant. The peghead shape just kind of evolved on its own though. |
